Missed Box

Unfortunately my husband did not pick up the box as planned while I was out on business travel this week. We missed out on the following:

Baby Carrots
Red Beets
Fennel
Parsley
Lacinato Kale
An Herb: thyme or mint
Mushrooms: shitake or oyster
Spinach
Broccoli

I honestly did not know what happened with the boxes that are not picked up by subscribers, so I checked with the CSA folks. In our case, once delivered to the host site, the farms are out of the picture. The hosts handle the surplus through donation, distribution to folks at work, or composting. The vegetables are not wasted.
